CONSERVATION OF THE ENVIRONMENT
The amount of plastic marine litter in oceans and seas is growing, to the detriment of ecosystems, biodiversity and potentially human health, and causes widespread concern. At the same time, valuable material that could be brought back into the economy is lost, once littered. Single Use Plastic (SUP) items represent about half of all marine litter items found on European beaches by counts. HOSTI GmbH has been producing sustainable disposable tableware for 70 years – our products are compostable and made from renewable raw materials:
Paper plates, paper bowls made from kraftboard with greaseproof barrier, paper plates, paper bowls and tart plates made from virgin fibers, paper plates and paper bowls made from virgin fibers with greaseproof barrier, wooden cutlery for catering supplies.

Of course, products made from renewable raw materials should never be carelessly discarded in our nature but correctly disposed of as biodegradable waste.

STANDARDS
Quality and environmental management are our top priorities. This applies both to our products and also to our production processes. We guarantee our customers quality of the very highest order thanks to our integrated management system, which is certified to ISO 9001:2015 and FSC®.
We have additionally introduced hygiene management to the BRC standard.
Use of renewable energy
In a world of rising energy demands and environmental awareness, we cannot afford unnecessary waste. Electricity from renewable energy sources, often known as “green electricity”, is becoming more and more important in the market. HOSTI only uses electricity which is 100% certified as coming from renewable energy sources.

ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT WITH CERTIFICATIONS
We use renewable raw materials for our products. We also constantly review our manufacturing processes to ensure quality, efficiency and respect for the environment.
The “Forest Stewardship Council” (FSC®) has set out strict criteria that serve to ensure that uncontrolled deforestation, violations of human rights and pollution of the environment are avoided. The “Nordic Swan Ecolabel” is the governmental sustainability label of the Nordic countries. The focus of the Nordic Swan Ecolabel is on environmental protection, as well as the quality and safety of the products.
In the production chain, HOSTI is a FSC®- and Nordic Swan Ecolabel certified company.
